Or Something is a new project, we’ve published the A edition and B will be out in February; below is the first editorial. Get in touch at orsomethingorsomething@googlemail.com, we’re accepting submissions until the 1st of December for the letter B.
Or Something is an ambitious project that refuses to settle for self deprecating evasion. This is a publication packed with bold proud ideas in words and images. Held together only by the letter ‘A’ this is like an ostentatious Sesame Street - all grown up. The entries in this encyclopaedia are fascinating, and they are better still for the fact that these are written about topics that their writers care about – really. No doubt, these are amongst the things that these people will talk about when drunk That is part of the ambition of this publication, Or Something. Directly conceived out of a desire to lift our opinions, ambitions and plans from the dregs of our pints and closing time and onto the solid proud page. I hope that this publication will be but one part of a bigger thing. Whether it be through bands playing at events, art exhibitions or chest beating arguments over generous plates of food – I hope, recklessly, that Or Something will be an< opportunity to develop and share the things we really want to do. Some, would smirk at this collective self-aggrandisement, they might find the project self indulgent and confused. However – I think that this is a good read, and I think that it is far more fun to allow yourself to be proud of what you do than to cower in reticence. Or Something.
